Business Confidence
In the September 2011 Sensis® Business Index, the Northern Territory recorded Australia’s highest net balance of business confidence at 29%, compared to the national net balance of business confidence at 15%.
Northern Territory small and medium enterprises (SMEs) expressed strong support for the Northern Territory Government, making it the most popular State/Territory Government among Australian jurisdictions.
SMEs cited ‘government support for small businesses’ and ‘small business management and training programs’ as key reasons for support. SMEs in the Territory recorded the highest results for sales performance of any state or territory, along with the equal highest performance in profitability (equal with VIC) and capital expenditure (equal with WA and the ACT).
Overall business confidence across the Territory has softened but remains above the national average with many businesses supportive of the Northern Territory Government and its efforts to improve business conditions.
